Moving Forward with Lost Dog
Hey everyone,
So it’s been a bit since I updated last week and I wanted to let you know that I’m going to continue to work on Lost Dog and other projects, but in order to do so, I’m going to start studying Visual C#.
So what does this mean for Lost Dog and my other game projects?
Basically, it means two things:
1. Updates to Lost Dog may take a while.
2. When I finally finish it, odds are that it won’t be available for the Mac.
I know that both of those things aren’t great news and I apologize for that. The truth is that I don’t have a ton of time to work on this as it is, so if I’m going to learn a language, I need to choose one and learning to develop with Visual C# seems to be the most solid start with practical results.
In the future, I may decide to switch it up and purchase a cheap Mac so that I can try my hand at XCode (the Mac development environment). I actually just read somewhere that you can pretty easily port C# to Macs, so maybe that will be an option, but for now that’s somewhere down the line.
I really appreciate all of the support I’ve received so far. The compliments have been incredible. Thank you!
Anyway, back to work.
If you haven’t already downloaded the game, please feel free to do so. The Tech Demo is still available on the Verge-RPG website (for both Mac AND PC). And if you feel like making your own game, I suggest starting there. Verge is a great way to get started.
Silhouette Games Release: “Lost Dog” (MAC VERSION!)
Hey, remember last night when you were like “Great post, Danny. Way to make a game that I can’t play on my Mac! Gosh, I hate it when I can’t play things on my Mac!”
Then you heard the reviews?
“Awesome!”
“Hilarious!”
“Surprisingly fun to play[…] There just needs to be more of it.”
And then you sobbed for hours like an idiot?
Remember that?
Well guess what, dummy?

This morning I figured out how to make a version of Lost Dog for Mac using VERGE’s Mac port. So now you can play Lost Dog, too!
So don’t cry, moron. Download and laugh!
Special thanks to Jon Mackey for helping me out by testing it to make sure it worked and grabbing that SWEET Mac screencap. When you’re done playing Lost Dog, tell all your friends, and then check out Jon Mackey’s sweet new website and watch some awesome videos!
Silhouette Games Release: “Lost Dog”
So about a month ago I decided that I wanted to try to put together a visual novel game (in the same vein as 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors), and so I headed back to my roots at the VERGE Community and started trying to make a game.
I decided that I wanted to keep it very simple and just get all of what I considered the basics in there. It would be a simple mystery (a boy loses his dog) and the mystery would be over in about two seconds, but it would have a couple of different alternate endings.
I spoke to my friend Victoria Tao about creating the art for the game, handed her some quick storyboards, and less than 30 days later we have a tech demo that’s available for play:

I have to say that I’m pretty proud of the game as it is, but I’m also looking forward to expanding it in the future. I’m not sure if I’ll stick with VERGE as the engine but for now it’s been fun for the most part and it let me learn a little bit of Lua programming.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the game.
For more information about Silhouette Games and other gaming projects that I have planned, keep an eye on http://www.silhouettegames.com - the official website for Silhouette Games.
Note: Unfortunately for right now the game is only available for PC. Sorry, Macs. :*(
If you haven’t seen all of Lost yet, don’t watch this. (Unless you don’t care.) If you have, I’m just saying I don’t disagree with this guy. Well played, sir.
Yo Dawg
I heard you like to be lost while you’re watching Lost, so we put a bunch of confusing shit in the finale so that you could be lost while you’re lost while you’re Lost.
Lost Series Finale Thoughts
After watching this special, I feel like when the finale is finally over it’s going to be like the end of The Truman Show. People are going to look around them and be like “Woah! Books and life and shit!”
Note: That line was edited out of the final cut of Truman Show.
Terminal Thoughts
I wonder if anyone freaks out if they’re flying out of gates 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, or 42. Or if their flight is #815. Is that stuff going to be like the 13th floor in buildings now?
Is it already?
How come no one immediately jumped to having sex on the island after they survived that crash and were okay?
