And the first to fall to Awesome or Bust!: Arkanoid DS.
66 to go, my friends. 66 to go. ;)
So I haven’t been posting a ton, but that’s (oddly) because I’ve been working extremely hard on some other things. Hopefully all of those things will eventually come to light here, but for now I’m just going to say there’s a lot going on.
Which brings me to the point of this post: “2012: Awesome or Bust!”
I’ve decided that this past year was mostly what’s known in sports as a “rebuilding year.” And just like a “rebuilding year” in sports, this is probably just a bullshit excuse for the fact that I didn’t really do much.
So! With that in mind, I’ve decided to head into 2012 with a certain perspective. That perspective? Awesome or Bust!
What this means is that I’m going to take all of my energy and focus it towards kicking the shit out of next year. And here is an example that I feel comfortable sharing.
It’s no secret that I have a lot of games that I should be playing but, for some reason, never do. Starting tonight (A little early, I know. Calm down.) I’m going to start playing them. 67 games have made the list. Yes. Read that again. 67.
You can find the full list below and obviously some of them will take longer than others to beat. Besides. 67? That’s basically a game every FIVE days! Some of these games are huge! And this is just one part of AoB! How will I do it!?!
Well that’s the thing. I’m not going to beat all of them. I know that. But this is a huge chunk of my backlog and I’m going to do my best to clear as many titles as possible. If I even make it to half I’ll consider it a HUGE success.
Awesome or Bust! is about pushing myself to do amazing things - that’s it.
So with that said: Here. We. Go.

Morgan Gibbs is one of the finest videogame reviewers who has ever reviewed. Please support him in this trying time by watching his amazing review of Zelda: The Legend of Skyward Sword. I can’t believe they let him go!!!
I’ve mentioned them before, but Extra Credits is one of the best web series available to anyone interested in the world of making games and I’m so glad that they have found a new home on PATV! (Go Penny Arcade!)
I often talk about the responsibility of parents when it comes to the gaming industry - and to be honest, I still feel like that’s where the majority of problems in the gaming industry comes from, but this week’s episode on Call of Juarez: The Cartel is extremely important and deals majorly with the responsibility we all have as the people who make games.
Everyone can be responsible.
Again: Watch this video. This is important. Thank you.
It’s official. I will buy this game when it comes out only to play as Phoenix Wright and “Objection!” people to death.
TAKE THAT!
As far as hobbies go, I think I’m taking to this one rather well. This basically came out exactly like it looked in my mind. So glad I took the time to do the quick concept mock-up last night. Thought of so much more today and then BOOM!
Very proud of myself. Can’t wait to replace the stupid GOTY box art with all of the logos and other crap. I’ll post pictures when it’s done!
Here’s an early look at my Batman Arkham Asylum custom cover I’m making. I got the idea, now I just need to make it look cleaner. Might have to use Illustrator for this. Vectors tend to get cleaner lines. It’s basically what was in my head though, so I’m happy with it so far.
